Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science (NSF INCLUDES) is a comprehensive national initiative designed to enhance U.S. leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) discoveries and innovations focused on NSF's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and broadening participation in these fields. The South East Alliance for Persons with Disabilities in STEM (SEAPD-STEM) builds on the success of the Alabama Alliance for Students with Disabilities in STEM (AASD-STEM) and adds an addition 16 institutions to the program, for a total of 21 participating colleges and universities in six states and Washington, D.C.

The 2017 AASD-STEM/SEAPD-STEM Annual Conference will be hosted by Auburn University on August 25-26. The conference will provide all SEAPD-STEM participants with networking opportunities. Scholars will have an opportunity to present their research; speakers will present information on topics such as self-advocacy issues, preparation needed prior to applying to graduate school, and relevant programs and accommodations available to students with disabilities; faculty members will receive training for implementing the SEAPD-STEM Bridge program on their campuses; and executive committee members will participate in planning sessions to develop the INCLUDES proposal to be submitted in late 2017.
